Because investing in your healing deserves full clarity and no guesswork

understanding payment options

Navigating the cost of therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you're already carrying so much. I want to make this part as clear and straightforward as possible so you can focus on what actually matters — getting the support you need.

If you have questions about payment options or aren't sure what applies to you, feel free to reach out at vanessa@matrescenceincolor.com and I'll help you figure it out.

Self-Pay Options

Superbills & Out-of-Network Benefits

I accept self-pay for all services. Payment is due at the time of your session and can be made via major credit card, debit card, HSA, or FSA. Payment plans are available for Therapy Intensives.

I do not bill insurance directly. However, if your plan includes out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with a superbill — an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan, so I recommend calling your insurance to confirm your out-of-network benefits before we get started.

My fee is $225 per individual therapy session. Sessions are 60 minutes. Therapy intensives are priced separately, and you can find full details on the intensives page.

Choosing full-fee, private-pay care means you receive focused, unhurried support that is fully centered on you and your goals, not on what an insurance company will approve. It allows me to maintain a smaller, intentional caseload so I can show up fully for every client, continue investing in specialized training, and offer the kind of deep, root-cause care that this work requires. You're not one of dozens, you're someone I've made real space for.

When you invest in your healing, everything changes. You stop putting yourself last and start treating your wellbeing as the foundation everything else is built on. That investment ripples into your body, your relationships, your motherhood, and your sense of self.

A note on insurance: insurance-based care requires a formal mental health diagnosis to authorize treatment, which becomes part of your permanent health record. It can also limit the number of sessions covered, dictate the type of treatment you receive, and create disruptions if your coverage changes. Private-pay care keeps your treatment decisions between you and your therapist — private, flexible, and fully tailored to what you actually need.

Fees

If your insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be able to get reimbursed for a portion of your sessions. Here's how it works: after each session, I'll provide you with a superbill, an itemized receipt with the necessary codes, that you can submit directly to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. The amount you're reimbursed, if any, depends on your specific plan.

Before we get started, I recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card and asking the following:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  • What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much of it have I met?
  • What percentage of the session fee will be reimbursed after my deductible is met?
  • Do I need a referral or prior authorization to see an out-of-network provider?
  • How do I submit a superbill for reimbursement?

Using your OON Benefits

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of your care before services begin. As a private-pay provider, I am committed to full transparency around fees so there are never any surprises.

Before your first session, you will receive a written Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected cost of services based on your treatment plan. This estimate is provided to all self-pay and uninsured clients as required by federal law.

For questions about your Good Faith Estimate or to request one before scheduling, please reach out at vanessa@matrescenceincolor.com.

Please note: A Good Faith Estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to receive services. Actual costs may vary depending on the length and frequency of treatment.
