I know what it’s like to feel like you have to get everything right, especially as a woman of color.

The pressure to do more and do it better has been a constant in my life, and for years, my high expectations of myself drove my success.

But when I became a mom, I realized that the high standards that helped me thrive in my career didn’t always fit with the realities of motherhood. The expectations—both external and internal—felt overwhelming, especially during postpartum and the journey of Matrescence, the transition into motherhood.

But then I learned not to fight against my desire to do it all right, and that perfectionism wasn’t something I needed to learn how to work with it.

I came to see that perfectionism could be both a motivator and a source of stress. The key was recognizing when it was serving me and when it was creating unnecessary pressure leading me to burnout, anxiety, and stress.

Now, I help other high-achieving moms do the same.
